Eyesight is a blessing that allows us to lead a peaceful and serene life doing the things we love and creating memories that last a lifetime. Low vision diseases can deprive people of that blessing and make life challenging. Dr. Kornfeld Low Vision Optometry of Western New York is a trusted optometry practice established by an accomplished optometrist with more than 50 years of experience helping those impacted by low vision lead a happy and independent life, so they can continue creating memories with their loved ones.
While surgery is the most popular option if you have acquired an eye condition such as cataracts, we provide safe, non-invasive alternatives to help you lead a regular life when surgery is not an option, so you do not have to worry about the after-effects of a procedure.
Dr. George Kornfeld is an optometrist who has been serving low-vision patients for over 50 years. Dr. Kornfeld played an instrumental role in establishing The Lighthouse, a low vision clinic in Haifa, Israel and also at the Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown. With a Doctor of Optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, he is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and a member of the Low Vision Section (FAAO), and a Fellow of the International Academy of Low Vision Specialists (FIALVS). He began his exposure to low vision through the expert tutelage of Dr. William Feinbloom, the inventor of many of the miniature telescopes used today.
At Low Vision Optometry of Western New York, we are committed to helping our patients at all stages of their eye condition. We work with the leading optics manufacturers to bring solutions that align with your lifestyle, so you can recognize your grandchildren's faces and watch your favorite movies even when you have been told there is nothing more that can be done.
Dr. Kornfeld has been taking care of my eyes for over fourteen years! He has been nothing short of empathetic, caring, and knowledgeable. My entire family chooses him as their optometrist. Highly recommend!
